Long Island Exploration

Please join us for a Long Island hike, a unique opportunity only accessible by boat. The island is a part of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge and is home to the Don Bonker Cedar Grove Trail, which winds through an old-growth coastal temperate rainforest with many large western red cedar trees and remnant stumps. The hike to the cedar grove is a 6-mile roundtrip, on an unpaved trail rated at moderate difficulty in some areas. Hike the trail at your own pace, read interpretive signs and interact with Refuge staff and volunteers along the way.

On Saturday, June 11, registered guests will meet at Cutthroat Creek boat launch, 3888 US-101, Ilwaco, WA near mile marker 24 on U.S. Highway 101 for a boat shuttle to the island. The boat will leave every 15 minutes between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, shuttling small groups onto the island. The boat will then take groups off the island with the last shuttle at 4:00 pm.
