Environmental Education

The Refuge Explorers program for 4th grade students returns this year at the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge and we need your help! Volunteers are an integral part of this program, helping to connect students to nature.

As a volunteer you will lead a small group of students through the Refuge’s various habitats, making observations, and asking questions. You'll take your group to a few stations where they have an opportunity to interact with biologists and view live aquatic critters!

There’s no need to be an expert naturalist or an educator -- this is a learning opportunity for everyone!  Training will be held on on Wednesday, April 27th from 10 am to 12 pm.  Refuge field trips will be during the week of May from approximately  9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Come join us and make a difference in your community by connecting with our youngest generation! Email us at willapa@fws.gov if you are interested or have any questions about participating.
